I like buying SPS off divers den. You get good sized colonies and most of them survive (for me, at least). My only ‘complaint’ is that while the WYSIWYG pictures are usually faithful to the initial appearance, they usually don’t stay that way. Curious if others have the same experience? Bought a colony a few months ago that was a pale blue. Figured it was stressed from collection and that it would color up. It did! Trouble is it’s not blue - rather a deep forest green. Now when considering buying one I try to envision what it will eventually look like. Mostly not accurately LOL.

Yeah,
I bought one from them that was bright pink. Over the time it turned purple, but it's still healthy.

(lol)
For the most part they don't sell designer named sticks.

You need a lot of daylight for them to stay the color that they are, or color back up to the original. They were in the ocean a few feet under the water in about 6500k light a few weeks ago.

Look at the species. Most of the Microlados shortcakes will be green and pink, like you expect. Plana will be nice looking with 4-5 different colors. Spahts and Millepora will have a few different colors, but usually shift greener. Tenuis - no idea what you are going to get. Most of the lorpies and grannies are a crap shoot. Aculeus are a good risk since they are mostly bright blue to some blue-green, but these are trickier.

This is why I am so amazed that people think that RR and Jason Fox collect all of their own stuff and they know exactly what they are getting all of the time. While I have no doubt that they collect some stuff, they roll the dice just like anybody else on what will end up being what.
