So I am not sure if this is a chemistry issue or a lighting issue but hopefully that can be answered here.

I have some Montipora and Acropora which have gotten pale since I added them to my tank.

They have been encrusting and I am getting some nice PE on most of them but the color is lacking for the most part.

SG 1.025
pH 8.4 steadily
Cal 400
Alk 160ppm very steady
Mag ~1500 always this high
Phosphorus ~ 5-10 ppb
NO3 undetectable always
Temp 78

I can't ever get a good reading on a K test with my Red Sea kit and Iron seems to run on the lower end usually.

My lighting is a RapidLED build with coolwhite royal blue red green and UV LEDs. All 5w except for the UVs. So I don't have any real numbers on their performance other than I am running them at 55% right now. I haven't been able to find any conclusive information on how to tell if it is too low or too high other than using some type of meter i don't have access to. So any information on this is greatly appreciated as well.

So I don't know if I am lacking something in my water chemistry or if something is too high which would cause this or if it is from the lighting.

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me as I am lost and am tired of looking at the green LPS in my tank as the only real color other than the fish.

Thank you in advance and if more info is needed please let me know.

I agree that it could be many things, but very low nitrate can lead to pale corals and many folks dose it (or dose amino acids) for that reason.

will dosing Sodium Nitrate or amino acids increase the issue i am having with cyano/spirulina?

It might. If that happens, adding more "good" bacteria may be useful.

curious as well if aminos and nitrate do the same thing.

They do some of the same things (supply nitrogen, primarily) and some different things (amino acids can be used as building blocks of proteins or as an organic carbon source for energy generation by metabolism).

So should i dose both or just one? If only one, which one should i try?
