I also took the displacement with the plug. At the end, if we really wanted a true percent difference, we could cut it off the plug and subtract out that amount from the measurements, but I don't think that's really necessary. For the height, I included everything above the plug. For the widest part, I did not include the encrusted base, but I'm not sure what everyone else is doing.

Now that I think about it, I agree CJO - Better to use the W/D measurements without the base. I also toyed with trying to get volume of just the Frag, but it introduces even more potential for measuring error. I think the volume of the Frag and plug is best and will still provide an accurate percentage increase - perhaps even more so as it will include the encrusted portion of the plug.

I did the same as you CJ... measured displacement including the plug, but LxHxW wasn't including the plug or the encrusting growth.

I'll have mine in a day or two guys. Sorry for the delay!

The piece is starting to color up really nicely already. I've got it down about 3" off the sand bed directly under a Radion and I think this is where I'm going to keep it.

I need to edit the original height of my frag to 1-2/16. I just realized after looking at the measurements that have been posted by everyone, that I some how managed to include the frag plug in my height measurement. So 15/16ths off the height of my original entry. :squigglemouth:

There's stll quite a few people who haven't posted their initial measurements. Please post your info if you haven't already, so that we can gauge growth with each person's setup.

Ok so here's a couple pics of mine..

003-34.jpg

The measurements are 1 7/8" from top of plug to tip of frag, 7/8" from farthest tip to tip and 1/2" from front to back.

Just a note, my frag is very temperature sensitive. I usually keep mine at 77.5 - 78, but some days it gets up to 78.5 and yesterday spiked to 83 for half a day... this was the only frag that started to RTN. I might have to chop half it off. It was almost finished encrusted the entire top and some of the sides of the frag plug. :(

So does anyone have any updated pics of theirs? I haven't been home in a month so i'd like to see what mine may or may not look like when I get home...

Here's mine as of today:

I'm starting to get some vertical growth and it's colored up quite a bit.

Percent change = (7-6)/6*100 = 16.7%

I'd give it another go if there was interest. We'd have to do it with a much purtier colony this time. Th enthusiasm level may be better then:)
