Everything looks great - Thanks Adam.

I think it's great everyone is showing our sponsor some love and picking up some extra frags, they all look great! Don't forget to leave some feedback for BC as well!

Received mine yesterday as well. Along with ORA German Blue Polyp, ORA Pearlberry, Tubbs Pink Jade, RR Grape Juice and a Shawn Bennett Yellow tort. All frags are looking great!

My first purchase from Battlecorals, but not the last.

Anyone's piece started showing up some color yet? Mine is getting some green at the base. When are we suppose to officially start measuring?

Is there anyone still waiting for their frag? Still plenty of people that haven't input their tank info... please do so when you get a chance here:

You should get a measurement as soon as possible and post a pic in the thread along with your measurements. Try to get a displacement measurement as well as an approximate linear mesaurement.

As you guys post updates, I'l combine your posts with previous entries so that we'll have a growth progression for each participating member.

I received my frag yesterday morning. After a few on Monday I will take measurements as well as post photos and detailed tank specs.

Come on guys, let's get some measurements so that we can actually gain some insight with this little experiment. I know that most (if not all) of us have received the frags, but only a few have posted measurements.

I received our frags on Friday. Now that I have the relative size, I ordered some beakers and a 250ml graduated beaker. They should be here this Friday so that I can do some measurements.

Sorry for the delay in response to my previous post. Life tends to get away from me at times.

As of Thursday, May 31 2012

Specimen Stands an approx. 2.1 cm tall from the base of the frag plug, an approx. 1.6 cm wide at its widest point where the 2 stalks "V" apart, and an approx. 1 cm deep from what i designated the front of the coral to the rear. The water displacement was measured at an approx. 8 ml.

I will discuss further with my colleagues a more accurate method of measurement that can be easily utilized by all. I would not think it be fair to use the equiptment here at our lab. I will post an update weekly as to the growth rate of this particular specimen. Please be patient with me due to the fact that we track the growth of hundreds of coral here as well as documenting many other projects and experiments. Thank you.

Also, it looks like the current frags will fit inside of a 250ml graduated cylinder, so there is a much easier way of doing the water displacement. Simply fill the cylinder with saltwater to a level that is higher than the frag (including the plug). Right now, 30ml works for me. Tilt the cylinder and slide the frag to the bottom. Record the difference.. that's it.

This is the 250ml graduated cylinder that I'm using:
Amazon.com: 213I13 Karter Scientific 250ml Glass Graduated Cylinder, Single Metric Scale: Industrial & Scientific

It is only $13.20 and shipping is free if you have Prime. The graduations are 2ml, but it is easy enough to estimate to the closest 1ml. I also have a 100ml graduated cylinder on order that I'll try out.

OK, trying this again with the right Frag this time...

BRS 100ml graduated cylinder indexed in 1 mL.

I'm a little unsure as to the measurement procedures - I used displacement including the plug, H & W are the widest and narrowest parts, including and encrusted base. Is this correct?
