In your opinion does this guy look happy? He is a lot Fuller than I got him 2 weeks ago. He is way different looking than all the SPS I see on here. Under my blues he is bright green. I have a couple of other small frags that all seem to be happy. If the polyps are out does that generally mean they are happy or should I be looking for things besides color and polyp extension? Thanks in advance.

Lots of polyp extension. Nice color. Looks great to me!

Thanks, so basically if he is ticked it will be obvious. I know these are basic questions I just really want to be successful and would hate to be missing something and having him die off slowly and not notice until it was too late.

Warning. They are like a weed. Add them to one rock and and if your rocks touch it will spread and take over all of them. I have mine on one isolated rock so it can’t spread. Some people also glue a small frag to the back glass and it will then cover the back glass, which looks really cool.

Ya I definitely see that, I was considering giving them one of my three larger rock piles to get some early growth in my tank. Then cutting them back down the road and placing them on a smaller island. Do you think long term I would be able to remove them? Or is it more of a pain than it's worth?

If the eventual plan is the smaller rock...Save yourself the headache and put it there from the start.

That's a stylo/cats paw?

They never color up like an acro will, the most you can look for is good poly extension and some color in those polyps, of which I would give you a 9/10 considering you seem to be newer. Looks really good, just keep it up

Thank you. It's funny because I was looking at new corals last night and saw a stlylo was like that's my dude. Or maybe it was pocillopora that I saw.

Yeah it's really hard to tell some of these corals apart, but lfs usually have a limited selection so it was most likely a cats paw. For referance, these can be as hard or harder to keep than some or the easier acros like a green slimer so I wouldn't be afraid to try most sps as long as it still looks good

Unfortunately I don't really have a LFS that's closer than 60 miles and even that is a PetSmart which I haven't been too impressed with. For my first coral order I just ordered a 5 pack with my harem. Another terrible mistake. Either way I probably won't get too hard into SPS until this guy is baseball sized and happy. Two days ago he fell off my rock. I haven't glued him because I wanted to make sure he was in a good spot. He still has polyps out but not like that pic I posted. I am going to glue him in today. Thanks everyone for the help.
