My skimmer of frag tank is gone a week ago and I don’t have any filtration in frag tank except skimmer and live rock(7-8yrs old may be).I am see big change in polyp extension of all my frags, even I have couple of frags that are dead and started recovering nicely.anyone observed same thing like me? If this is the case why do we need skimmer lol.

There is a lot of discussion on the merits of uln systems as many have observed better results with higher nutrient levels.

Keep an eye on nutrients,,if they keep rising, that's not good either. I run skimmer at 1/2 speed during the day for aeration only, skim at night.

Coral do not eat nutrients (at least not efficiently). He’s likely seeing polyp extension from higher particulates in the water column, including things the coral are feeding on or at least things that are triggering a response to feed.

If you like the effects, try turning off your skimmer when you feed the tank for some number of hours so food is available to the coral longer.
