i picked this one up at my LFS last weekend.
it looks rough and beaten up, but i liked the colors on it.

i pointed at it in their frag tank and said: "grab me that Millepora too"
they did not correct me, but now that i look at it, it doesn't look like acropora millepora...

what is it? ;)

cellphone picture, cropped and boosted the exposure a bit to make it less dark, adjusted color levels to make it look like i see it in person.

Not A. Millepora. Perhaps A. Tenuis.

It has tissue necrosis on the bottom, so be watchful of it.

i was thinking tenuis too, but not certain.

the tissue was gone at the LFS already, it was a $9.99 frag :D
so far it hasn't gotten worse after 4 days. fingers crossed.

I agree with not a milliepora, while its impossible to be certain with this tiny piece. I dont think its tenuis, radials structure is different, more immersed.

I'd guess more along the lines of anthocercis, mirabilis, maybe clathrata.

I agree. My guess would be A. Anthocercis, but almost impossible to tell from such a small frag. It looks like it has great potential though!

thanks for the responses all!

but i jinxed myself :( woke up this morning and it was completely RTN'ed.

put it in the tank on Saturday, wait, wait wait... post question on Wednesday, RTN on Thursday morning.
just my luck.

Ouch man, sorry to hear! cant save all the "bargain bin" acro rescues.
I agree with skipJack that it had potential. Does LFS have anymore frags of it ?

How do all your other sps/acros look/doing ?

Maybe have another go at a frag of it ? anthocercis usually develops some pretty cool coloration.

this is a pretty new tank, and these were the first sps to go in.
the others still look good! green slimer, digitata and birdsnest.

i didn't see another one of the same frags last time, but will keep my eyes open when i go back :)
