has anybody had any luck keeping a sps only 29 gallon biocube if so what equipment was needed thankx

First off you need much better lighting than stock pc. Unless this is the HQI model you need something like metal halide or LED for example. You would also do well to have an excellent protein skimmer. Personally I suggest the Tunze 9002 as inTank makes a good collection cup for it. The second chamber in the back could also stand to be converted into a refugium (again inTank has something for that). It really comes down to making sure your water is pristine or very close to it. It is very possible to do SPS in a Biocube 29. Really it just takes time, patience, and vigilance on maintaining your parameters.

+1 on the post above. I've kept SPS in a 14G cube before. You need to maintain water perams. I did a small water change every day, roughly 2 liters a day I think for your size tank. And kept an eye on the salinity/evap and had no issues. Depending on your bio-load and what you have packed in the back, you could forego a skimmer this way. And then your set. At least for lights and water quality. You still have the pests, temperate, water flow and random acts of what I call tank gremlins. But it's worth it. An LED lit bio-cube with a good rock scape and happy sps is always sexy.

Oh yeah I forgot about flow. I might suggest a couple of koralia on either side or a Vortech MP10. +1 on the water change idea.

I can tell you from running a sps nc24 for a couple years that an mp-10 is equally as important as a good light and good skimmer. I ran two koralia nanos for a year and a half and my sps suffered, after switching to an mp10 my color and pe are amazing and i have no more intermitten stn on the bases of my bigger colonies. I put it off for so long because of the price, my biggest mistake was not getting this power head day 1. Good luck with the build.

Here is some of the SPS I have in my Biocube 29g mixed reef. I have an MP10 and would suggest it highly, my lighting is an Aquamedic 150w halide (Phoenix 14k) w/ 2 24 watt t-5 bulbs.

It is mixed I have about 15 mini colonies/frags
