I've had this frag of 30K Lokani for around a year now. When I received it, it was very pale/bleached out. Almost no color at all.

While the rest of my SPS have thrived, this one has done nothing. Barely any growth. I've never see PE from it, day or night (maybe the slightest hint of a polyp).

I've tried putting it in low light as well as high light. It doesn't seem to respond to anything. There are no pests nor have there even been pests on this frag.

What can I do to help this guy come back to life? I was thinking about dipping it an amino acid solution.

Please help!

I had a tri-color that was like that. I could see no pests and all my other acros were doing really well. One day I took a picture of it and after I looked at it on the computer I found out there were red bugs on it! Only on that one acro! Well a little interceptor and not it is the fastest growing thing in my tank and the polyps stay out all the time.

Definitely no redbugs on it. I've never really had this frag glued down so I've been able to pick it up and look very closely on numerous occasions.

I wasn't trying to say that there were. I was just telling you my experience. I couldn't see them with the "naked eye". I hope you do figure it out. Keep us posted! :)

Well when I look at the frag, I'll pick it up, bring it right under the aquarium light, still underwater (all pumps turned off). Are you saying I might not be able to see them under those conditions? I mean, with my face like two inches away from the frag I think I would be able to notice them.

You should. Sorry I wasn't trying to be a smart a**. I just went back and re-read my last post and it did seem a little rude. That wasn't my intention. I really do hope you figure it out. and would like to know what your findings are. LOL. I probably couldn't see the ones in my tank because I'm "blind as a bat" LOL

Haha. No worries, I didn't interpret your post to be rude at all. Thanks for the helpful information, it was definitely something to take into consideration.

I wasn't able to but one of my friend could see it on his acros. When we took some macro shots, they showed up clear as day. Not saying that you have red bugs but a macro shot does help.

Snip a little frag off of it and glue it to a plug. Sometimes acros can go into dormit and taking a frag of it can stimulate meiosis.

Yeah maybe I'll bust it off the frag plug and see if it reboots.

Interesting, I have a red planet frag that is the same way. Great and bright color, no PE, no growth. I have checked it with a magnifying glass and dipped it and it seems like a dead tree tree with no leaves, but the bark is all still on it. I wonder if coral can go dormant, and if so how do you wake it up. I will try cutting a frag. I have a second frag of the same coral that is doing well in the same tank.
