so guys my question is what do you dose for your sps other than the usual 2 part? any tips on what works good at getting the best color out of them?

Waterchanges are the best supplement, you can't overdose unless you have a really high salinity! Replenishes every trace element you could ask for, my personal goal is to do waterchanges as often as I possibly can (multiple times a week).

are people dosing mag for the sps or for water stability?

Currently i do not dose anything other than what i feed. I've been interested in trying some zeo products like coral vitalizer or maybe pohls extra.

I used the sponge power and thought it worked good.

Magnesium keeps calcium from precipitating (turning it into sand), thus keeping the calcium dissolved in the water. So it indirectly effects SPS by keeping the calcium usable for the coral.

the only thing needed in my tank is calc, alk, and mag. Mag gets incorporated into the skeleton and does go down so I dose as needed. 2 part on dosers and kalk in ATO take care of calc and alk for me. I just say no to additives and the like (they are drugs imo...jk)
