is it possible to have a successful mixed tank? I’m torn between the colors of sps and the flowing movement of lps. Right now I have some zoos, some frog spawn and a hammer. I keep my Tank salinity at 1.24 temp at 78 ph at 8.0 mag at 1300..I try to keep cal at 420 but dont have alot of luck there.

It’s possible , yes.

That is a great picture of a mixed tank! Flow is definitely an issue, as is finding the balance for nutrients as to what SPS and LPS prefer. You will also have to plan out the placement of corals due to their lighting requirements. All doable but a little more work then a specific type tank.

For water flow I will have the maxspect gyre 250 in a custom Tank instead of the tank being 48 inches it’s only 43 inches. Will that be enough flow? I was thinking top sps, middle lps and softies mid to bottom. I see some of the tanks on here and gets me wanting more.

Also is there a set par number for sps, lps, softies. I’m in the process of upgrading my lights and will have access to a par meter once lighting is all done. The lighting will be 3 t5s and 36 led blues and whites. The leds are adjustable.

Just plan well. LPS can send out sweepers that will badly sting some SPS. Give them room to spread and grow.

My mixed reefer 425XL.
yes, mixed reefs are possible if you take a closer look on water flow and provide proper flow for each type of coral.

parameters were/are:

KH 7,5
CA 440
MG 1400
