SPS nano tank

Starting my 2nd tank here in a few weeks. Going to be an all SPS nano. My question for all you SPS people is should I go barebottom? The tank is a IM nuvo 10g. Thanks in advance!

Bare bottom isn't very attractive in my opinion. And substrate helps with PH from what I've heard so I vote no on bare bottom

Its totally depends on your choice. I had sand and now currently its bare bottom. Both are good. People from both camps have their own arguments so you need to decide what you want. I can say that both works well. As far SPS growing I had a lot although they are still babies but they growing quite fast encrusting well and I dont believe my substrate of display tank have any effect on that process. But I have a good amount of live rock in my sump.

i say bare bottom as it's easier to keep clean and you don't have to worry about sand storms because of the flow. Adventually your bare bottom will be pink because of the coralline algae

Forget one thing you can add starboard at the bottom which will protect the glass from getting covered by coralline and also looks like a substrate.

Is starboard hard to find? Also wouldn't coraline cover the starboard anyways?

Ha ha I was thinking that you did not asked that question....so the WWC has their 650 gallon build with starboard and a lot other people. I dont think anyone has any issues. But silicone the board well from all side with the glass dont do patching with silicone. So that no residual debris settle under the board . I am going to use it for my current upgrade.

So the tank im using is about 11 and a tad bit over 1/4 so what should I get it cut to? I was thinking 11 1/4 would be close to snug or should I give it more room you think?
