So my tank has been up and running for a few months and ive got LPS now, but I really like the looks of SPS. My new lighting will be coming in Friday and my RODI system will be coming in today (I've been using tap water). My ? is i plan to do 2 large water changes over the next month so all my water is RODI and ill have my new LEDs on low setting so everything will get acclimated. In about 4 weeks i plan to do SPS, so what what steps should i take?

Get used to measuring alk calcium and magnesium at least once a week and have a plan to maintain them at a stable level. If you don't have them yet, get yourself a some high quality titration style test kits for alk, calcium, and mag. I like red sea and salifert test kits. Stabilize your temperature, and make sure you have a decent amount of flow.

Read up on alkalinity and calcium balancing.

I think if you werent bleaching your lps you may not have to turn your lights down all that much but just start new frags on the sand bed.
