I think the fluke tabs are closer to fenbendazole, they have menbendazole in them? The fluke tabs definitely knocked the aefw out but didn't seem to kill them. I still have a lot of fluke tabs for blue clove treatments so I could run the test again if I ever see aefw.

Is there a place to order fluke tabs from austrailia or other? This thread is gonna give me nightmares. Aefws are no joke.

They don't make fluke tabs anymore, you have to get them from a hobbyist who still has some. You can get the alternative to the suspected active ingredient called fenbendazole in, I believe, safe-guard. I think twilliard explains it a little in a different thread. I'm skeptical that it will work to kill off your aefw though. I know there is another ingredient (organophosphate?) in fluke tabs that might play a role in knocking out the aefw. Not sure which one gets it done.

I don't have aefw. I used fluke tabs to dip Frags for clove polyps before adding them to the tank. Works especially well for zoanthids and palythoas since cloves can hide in the nooks and crannies of them. A few minute dip on even the most infected frags would rid the cloves in a few days.

Well, I made a home made frag rack to put the sps frags on after dips.. I'm using bayer for dip. So I added 40ml of Bayer to 3 liqued oz. Left them in there for 12mins. Then swirled them in RO water for a couple of seconds to try to get anything that did fall off in the dip to let go. Then let them sit in a bucket of tank water for 10mins so they bayer gets off them... Here is some pics

Here is the bottom of the container after the dip. You can see all the flat worms on the bottom of the container

And here they are back in the tank

I guess we will see how it goes. I plan on doing the dip once a week until I don't see eggs or anything on them. At least 4 weeks. I still see a lot of eggs on my garf bonsai.. :(
But the frags don't look so hot after the dip.. Hopefully they pull through this treatment..

The dip was salt water from the tank with added bayer. Then another container had just fresh ro water that I swirled them in for a couple of seconds. Then they went to another container with salt water from the tank. Then they sat in there for about 10mins so they would get another rise before being put back in the tank.

I may have to chuck it.. There is way more eggs on it then what is in the pic..

I suggest rinsing your corals multiple times after dipping in Bayer. The first time I dipped a large amount of acro in Bayer I rinsed them twice and put them back into the tank. It took about ten minutes for my shrimp to start swimming upside down and pods were floating all over the place. Ever since I rinse them at least 6 times before they get put back into the tank.

I wouldn't reccomend dipping your acros in fresh ro water. Just use consecutive rinse buckets with tank water.

Personally I use three rinse buckets with tank water in them. Each one has about 2-3 quarts of tank water (I use the small graduated painter bucket). The last bucket also has about five to six drops of Lugols in it. I soak in the first two buckets for about 2 minutes, and swirl each frag for about ten seconds before transferring to the next bucket. I let them sit in the last bucket (that has the Lugols) for 5-10 minutes then gently hit them with the turkey baster or shake them to be sure nothing else is falling off.

Ya, I will see what in can save possibly. Next week I will rinse more. Thanks for the heads up. Do you think I put a safe amount of mixture?

Cool, I will use the lugols next time as well :)

I don't know because I don't measure it. I just pour some in until it looks good and milky.

Frag off

Personally I would frag off the top that has no eggs. Bayer dip it and glue it down to a plug

Solid advice right here. Aefw eggs don't attach to live coral. Only dead skeleton or substrate.

Further review of your picture shows two types of planaria.
Sorry, but there's only one FW pictured here; Acro-Eating Flatworms (AEFW). The other spots that look like a different colored-smaller worm are actually the egg clusters.

You definitely shouldn't rinse coral in RO water.

I see that you put the coral back in your tank without scraping the eggs off. You need to get those eggs off the coral as the dip will not kill them. You really are better off just fragging those sections off and throwing them in the garbage.

Honestly, the frag in the photo you posted looks just about finished. If I were in your situation, I think I would toss all my Acros. Wait a couple months and start over. You have a serious infestation going on right now.
