SPS problems....need advice

Update so you all were right!!!! My nitrate kit was bad so after adding potassium nitrate like i did. My no3 shot up to 50. Did a water change and todY its at 20. Whats normal amount or what should i expect for uptake each day

Whoa man! 50ppm? It must have been super high to begin with because the amount you dosed wasn't THAT much.

How much of a water change did you do to lower it to 20ppm? You don't want to be doing water changes that big, remember, stability is key.

Shoot for 5ppm or less for nitrates. Don't dose anymore nitrates, cut back on feeding if they are still that high.

I would wait a week do another water change and see where NO3 is then. Most of the time once your system is saturated it will stabilize there.

20 ppm isn't going to hurt anything. I've had 20 ppm and no issues.

Ok all the rodi is changed and tds is reading 0

Good. That could have caused lots of problems. Keep up with the system by checking it and do more water changes now your water is clean.

I did 30 gal chsnge but i think it also consumed some

Consumed what? Nitrate? Possible but once the system is saturated getting it down takes time, water changes remove a lot.

I would do the water changes both to ensure that anything that was getting past your RO/DO is removed. Also I would like to see 5ppm nitrate.

Hope things improve, let's us know either way.

Sending water test to triton in the am

Just got the salifert potassium test.

400ppm

I guess the low phosphate is next to correct.

Matt

Triton test came back and nothing to speak of except po4 was very low .008. Pottassium and iodine were also low. So possibly its all stemming from lacknof nutrients??

Update i have lost 80% of my sps alk is at 7.3 nitate is 10

Post the results of your triton test, if you don't mind, please.
