I recently was asked to post pics of how my sps's were reacting to the new 20k radiums with lumenmax reflectors and running galaxy ballasts.
After 4 months I have to report the following:

These acro's are toward the very top and were already in the tank when the new lights were installed. These guys were acclimated from 3hrs a week to the current 6 hrs.

What I determined with these acro's was that since they were 10-15 inches away from the lights they still needed more time to acclimate to the new light source. Possibly 2hrs per day to begin. I still think that they are acclimating. Why? Because of the richer coloring that I am noticing.

My next post will show those sps's that were further away from the light source during the same acclimating time frame.

i have radiums too with lumanarc mini reflectors and blue wave 7 ballast...some of my sps have spawned new colors.....one that i have had for 2 years now is a tricolor nana...was brown with a green shade on it when i got it...it was under a 175 15k in a spider and it turned nice green after a wile.....when i put on the radium set up it bleached out a little but came back strong with green again....but here is the kicker....now i have nice purple tips!!!!!!!!! i may have an old pic of it when i got it and i would have to take one of it now to show all ya...

but here is another one that i got that was under 400w 10k that was redish brown when i got it....now after the summer it changed out colors under my radiums and the owner of the mother went nuts when i showed him this pic....he loves it now in my tank better than his frag tanks

buy the way it is a no name (in his frag tank he calls it a "fuzzy monkey") but in my tank i would call it "incredible hulk acro" it grows nice and fast in my tank too :)

Gorgeous corals. I really like the color of the first acro.

Thanks guys! It seems as though it is true when it comes to better lighting our corals do respond and possibly even change colors.
I do know that the frogspawn is a bit more green like in the 2nd pic. Somehow the 1st pic in playing with the aperture and f-stop the coloring looks different. I have seen orange colored frogspawn though.
Customcolor your acro is awesome!
I would love to see the before pic. I am sure your friend who has the mother colony is wishing he could have that coloring.
I do know that my frags have gone thru color changes and I'm sure that lighting has been a key factor but another factor is were my parimeters are kept. For ex: the red planet went from green base to brown to red. Once I move into my 180 it will be placed further away from the lights, then it may bring back some of the green coloring.

Now these corals have been in tha tank but were placed half way in the tank. My observation was that these guys faired better when acclimating to the new lights.

This is my pearl berry frag it was originally placed away from the light source and middle of tank. I moved i a month ago and it went from totally brown to this coloring combo. I'm sure it will go back to its glorious color!

customcolor,
very nice tri-color!
I like your RADIUM POWERED moto! The bulbs are definitely great choices.
I got mine from a recommendation from WWC. The owner said, "trust me, you'll be very happy."
I am!
The gorgeous 300g display tank plus a new 150g cube display they have, are with radiums as well. 400 watt ones.

Thanks Naldo!
WWC I have to thank you guys as well! Without your guidance I would not be this successful! You all are great teachers and your store tanks speak for themselves.

Nice pictures. I hope I can get this kind of growth in just 4 months. :)
