So I plan on dipping my corals and was curious to see how others successfully remove their 1/2'' to 3/4'' frags from their plugs without injuring them to badly, especially ones that are encrusted at the base of the plug. I want to remove the frag from the plugs before dipping. Thx

If I cant do it successfully I simply use my snips and cut off all edges and underneath on the plug around the frag as to not interrupt its base.

I always QT all new arrivals and for SPS frags encrusted on frag plugs, I just cut the frag from the base and discard the rest of the encrusted portion of the coral and frag plug. A lot of the hitchhikers, ie, coral pests and nuisance algae etc, like to hide out around the base of new frags as well.

I just break it off leave the encrusting part on put back on the rack and it will start all over again the main part glue or epoxy it where you want it after dipping it all . I get several from encrusting plug after it re grows .
