Hey again guys and gals,
I recently bought an awesome sps frag pack from budman, who btw is awesome, very helpful and package arrived in awesome condition, frags had polyps open straight out of the box.
do not hesitate to do business with this guy!!
Unfortunately for me though I couldn't bring those frags back packaged as they were with the water in the bags so I used the damp paper towel in ziplock bags method to transport them. Worked like a charm for most of the frags. They were wrapped up for an average of 10-11 hours transit time.
A few of the frags however had some damage to them and a fair part the lower portions had the flesh slough off, the upper parts and tips are fine and polyps are open fully and colored up already.
My question is will the flesh and polyps grow back down onto the skeleton or should I cut them from where there is flesh/polyps are and re-glue them onto the plugs? To be exact the ones that this happened to were a green stylo and a green birdsnest.
I also had damage to a Hollywood stunner chalice - broken into quite a few pieces (this thing is very fragile) but managed to save a few tiny pieces with some eyes/mouths on them.
The blue stag was almost completely gone too, there is just a few polyps left that barely open and very little flesh on just the tips with the polyps, I put it on the sand in moderate flow to see if it can recover, has been around 2 weeks and has not degraded further so I have faith that it will recover lol. I really hope these 2 survive though, they are such nice pieces....
All other frags are fine, I would say that 4 damaged out of 23 wasn't that bad considering they had such a long transit time; overnight via fed-ex then re-packed in damp towels as soon as they arrived for a 10 hour trip. I must say it was quite nerve wrecking having these corals in my backpack in nothing but damp paper towels!!
Any input is appreciated
Oh on another note, where should I place purple digi, jingle bell shower and meteor shower for best growth & coloration?
