Need some help. I have been losing my acros (one every other day) to RTN. I really don't know why. I have checked everything and it all checks out good. The last thing I did was use Kick Ich because one of my fish got it so I treated and it all started.

If you treat your main tank with it then it might contaminate your water. Some ich medicine claim reef safe but don't trust it. Do 20% water change 5 days in a row and add carbon n poly filter to absorb the medicine. As far as your corals if u have a separate frag tank then move them or ask your friend to keep them for a week.

I agree. If that is the only recent change, then it is probably the issue using nothing but common sense.

In addition to the carbon, water change and polyfilter advice above (which is all excellent advice), run your skimmer more wet for a while.

FWIW there is no such thing as an effective reef safe crypt or ick "medicine". If your phosphates are truly 0, that could be a contributing factor. Where are your nitrates?

Diatom filter is about as good as it gets for in-tank treatment, but these have long fallen out of favor for some unknown reason. They are incredibly effective even though most have never heard of them.

I don't believe my Hanna tester (ULT) it gave me 0 but second test gave me 3=.01. I still need to check for nitrates. I still think is the medication. Sad part is I lost my WD last night.

It is not the nitrates or phosphate. Forget about this... it will just distract from the real problem that needs solved.

Sorry for your losses. Yeah, ich med isn't your friend here. As others have stated, GAC, large water changes.......

Hopefully it will turn around.

Need to pull your fish into a hospital tank and treat them in there.

Good luck!
