Did you know acropora or any other branching sps can be manipulated to grow how you want it? Bonzai is the art of cutting a tree to stay small, well this technique is more of a way to train your colony or frag to grow into a bizarre and interesting shape!

Simply tie a fishing line to your frag plug and hang it from your cross brace. The frag will dangle sideways and this causes branches to start curving and growing from the side. As growth begins start to rotate it until you have reached a full circle of curved and outward facing branches. After a while you begin to have a fully formed branching acro colony that has a wide base, branches that point outward, and a frag that will grow into a much bigger colony at a quicker rate.

When sps are on their side the entire branch becomes a base. The theory is that as you rotate the frag the sides of the branch will have chutes that pop up rather than leaving it one spot to get tall and much less immediate branching!

Whoah... that sounds like it would be awkward to see a whole bunch of swaying acros on strings. LOL.

That would be extremely difficult or almost completely impossible I might say..............

Cause I don't have a center brace, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

No I wish! This tip was from the back burner. Sprung on me this morning when a couple sps came in as a trade. I'll start one tomorrow for you guys! Sound good??
