Crap pic of mine; slow grower for me. I've had it for roughly 6 months I'd say. Beautiful piece for sure.

I think chilli pepper (AKA grinch) is totally different from seasons greetings but could be wrong. Heres my chilli pepper

In my experience seasons greeting equals plating, and grinch equals encrusting. I've heard chili pepper used in relation to both.

Great shots!

Gorgeous piece!! Nice pics everyone!

Anyone know how to tell seasons greetings from chili pepper? My understanding is SG plates and CP encrusts.

I have a small frag. Just wondering if there is anyway to differentiate before they start growing out?

Yeah I have both.. they are a bit different I think based on growth.. too hard to tell so IMO not worth having both in the same tank.

chili pepper's used to be encrusting M. danae and season's greetings were plating M. capricornis. Now days almost everyone just calls them all chili peppers. Banding at its best.

I know this is a old thread...buy .... nobody ever answer the original questions of care and success.

I recently got a nice size frag , just looking for info on lighting and flow , food etc... I am finding most sites say the same for all ..I know individual results vary

I bought mine from WWC as a Season's Greetings. Since it has grown out it seems to behave more like a plating coral than an encruster. That being said it is definitely less uniform in it's growth than my other plates. It seems to get a lot of finger-like protrusions shooting straight up towards the light.

I have mine maybe 2-3 inches from the waterline with plenty of flow hitting it. Running Chinese LED's at only 30% and 20% blues and whites.
