people say battle it naturally but you have a bacterial infection. cyano will suck up your no3 like a sponge. no one won a cyano battle i know of just by turning gfo on.

Ago. The reason I wanted to turn gfo back on its just to prevent future algae outbrakes, and Not to remove cyano.

I am at a loss with so many people having "algae" issues or wanting to prevent it.
What in the world is a gfo reactor? I have never ever used one in the many years I have been doing this.
People spend soo much money trying to control algae but in reality it is the person who has full control of it.
Turn your reactor on? No put it in storage or sell it to the next person who doesn't understand the life of algae.

he has a point. it is good to have a gfo reactor to safeguard phosphorus stays at a level manageable by the aquarist.
while it is NOT a silver bullet. it does add a sort of confidence for any reef keeper.
i keep mine off unless i see a need.
