I had two sps recently glued to their location last week on the top of the tank had fallen down few days ago i think (may be the big snail knocked them down), it fall right on top of green gonipora, I was away for few days and and when i looked last night the sps is just white, i moved it and hoping it would recover. Another montipora fall next to the same green goni close enough to sting on it and now thats fully white when I moved and its been a week and i hope to come back but it just turning brown. Is this how it is? dead!

on the same note i noticed my bird nest one branch is completely white this morning, what could be the cause?

Pictures before and now are here the best shot i can get.

As long as there are still live polyps on the sps, it can repopulate over the skeleton in my experience. If there is something else going on, (like a pest) then you might have other issues...

what are your parameters like?

Without parameter information we are kinda shooting in the dark. That said, in my experience, if it is white and everything else is and has been good it can come back. But once brown algae takes hold, the tissue is gone and recovery is very unlikely.

Trim the birds nest necrosis off.
Test parameters: Sg, ALK, NO3, PO4
Age of tank? ( I see coralline which is good.)
IMO best test kits respectively: calibrated refractometer, salifert, RedSea, Hanna Phosphate Checker ULR.

I test the parameters every weekend (except i missed last weekend becaz was not there) and it was consistant, but today I did test it this morning and here is the results and its bit off from last week

Today
No3: 0 (Nyos)
Po4: 0.04 (hanna)
Ca: 290 (RedSea)
Mg: 1400 (RedSea)
Kh: 9.9 (hanna)
Salt: (37.44 hanna, 34.9 apex)
Temp: (77.4 hanna, 78 apex)

compare with 2 weeks ago
No3: 2
Po4: 0.04
Ca: 390
Kh: 8.6

I see Ca decreased a lot and Kh increase 1+, I usually dose No3 and Po4, but missed it 2 weeks ( I think i may have dosed once)

Also this morning the pic of birdnest, same branch got more whites. (you can see left part which is blueish in the pic becaz of light, but its white when you see it) So i have to clip it?

The only thing i remember changing 5 weeks ago was the formula of No3 i make, I changed from potassium nitrate to sodium nitrate, wonder if i should go back to potassium nitrate.

So i should trim the bird nest? (just use fingers!)
My system is 2 yrs 6 months.

Your Ca is really low! Big wc and maybe consider some 2 part dosing. What salt do you use?

Yeah, i am surprised too, been testing for very long time with consistency. yes i do two part dosing, i set it up to increase the dose. I use redsea coral salt.

Check the date on your Red Sea test kit for Ca. And somehow confirm that Ca test. That would be very unusual to lose that much Ca.

For the longest time, I was unable to raise my Mg above 1200. I dumped liters in my system trying to raise it. It finally occurred to me that this was crazy and looked at the expiration date. Doh!

an update:

1. the sps turned brown and I believe its gone.

2. the bird nest white branches slowly expanded, as you see the pic last time, now its white on left, right and front . and i believe thats getting brown two, there is two more sub branch right on top of it is part of that white branch and I haven't clipped yet.

3. I checked my Ca test kit and it says 12/20, not sure if its good for this month, anyway ordered another kit. when check Ca again yesterday it was still in 290 range.
