SPS Suntan Monti covered with algae

Is there a way to remove algae from dead tissue? I have this for a month now. I was hoping that it would recover from it. So far, not much happening
it does not get better or worse.

iodine dip. seems to be a bacterial issue. had the exact same thing happen to my green slimer, and now my jf aquaman monti. initially thought M.E.N, but remembered my green slimer had this issue and with an iodine dip alongside daily iodine dosing, it cleared up. started it back up again for my monti, and fingers crossed it bounces back!

edit: what are your water parameters? do you know why it was dying to begin with? seems to be bouncing back slowly..

good flow and a good cleanup crew will do the job. My preference are scarlet hermits, margarita snails, turbo snails, and trochus. If u can find one abalone do a great job and live a long time. With the cleanup crew helping to remove the algae slowly and carefully, the coral can begin to grow over the spot

i think it may just be stunted growth right now but will start growing again if parameters are kept correctly

It happened in my small tank which was not very stable. I moved it from a smaller tank to the bigger one.
Since never recovered in his new home . It is growing just still covered that patch. I would like to get rid of that without cutting it off. Iodine dip sounds good.
anybody else have a success with it?

The part of the coral with algae on it has died off and will not "recover". Over several mo it may lay down new skeleton over the old dead part but the algae will slow this down.

Fwiw the rest of the coral looks happy now with new branches forming at the base. I would simply cut the branch below the algae, cut off the dead part with algae on it and glue the living part of the branch on to the side of the base.
