I have a reefer 450 currently with mostly sps and a few LPS corals. I have current Aiptasia problem which looks like it’s about to explode. They are starting to pop up every where. I tried peppermint shrimp and I believe my wrasse picked them off. I have tried Aiptasia x and most come back. Maybe I’m doing it wrong. Now I want to try the Aiptasia eating file fish but I’m worried that it will mess with my sps and also have an elegance coral. Any experience with this fish in a reef tank. Any other suggestions. ?

with a wrasse in the tank your options are somewhat limited to other fish , injections or electrocution. File fish and copper band butterflies are hit or miss but definitely better than nothing.

Ive never had my filefish mess with the SPS, but he's picked off zoanthids, blastos and other LPS - I would guess that elegance wouldnt live long.

If the wrasse ate the shrimps, it might eat Berghia nudibranch, but you could try them. You can also try the other fish that might or might not eat them. They might bother your coral or might not. You might have to help out by nuking the big ones and any that are easy to get at. Aptasia-x or lazer can help. Do not try to scrape them off. Those little pieces will morph into new ones.
If you do nothing then they will over populate your tank if you feed.

Thank u everyone for the advice.

I have a aiptasia eating File fish and although not the greatest "hunter" (evidence of a few hidden aiptasias), it leaves coral untouched. It loves to dart from from one end to the other end of the tank.
