So I've been keeping my sps tank at the 79-80 degree mark for about a year. In the last few days i brought it down to 77-78. I can already see a difference in polyp extension and some slight color improvement. Is 80deg to high? I have read thay 80 almost perfect for sps considering their native environments.

By 82 it's walking on the edge as you don't have much room to go higher.
I've grown SPS from 75 to 80 and didn't see much different in color.
The thing is large swing overnight day in day out can be not good.
My tank swings from 78.5 in the morning to 79.3 later afternoon.
No heater or cooler just the AC.

Some kind of perfectly balance in the DT will give you great results, not only with temps but with everything, parameters, lighting, flow, wc, etc
