In full vision and patience (learned) gonna start my build thread. Not completely decided on tank manufacture or even exact size. This will be a 6’ tank length wise and most likely 30 inches wide. Depth will be in the 20-28 inch range and all I know is I want an emperor angel as the trophy fish and all SPS coralwise in the tank.
Equipment:
one thing I’ve learned is go slow and plan as best as possible and be accepting and adaptable to a better way before, during, and in the future of your tanks layout and operation. With that in mind. I’m going in a reverse order and buying all of the have to items before I buy my tank. This will avoid cutting corners and hopefully what would result in me talking myself into fish and corals the tank isn’t set up for on a show string of a chance of pulling it off.

3 Radion Gen 5 XR 30’s (2 blues and 1 pro
2 Radion Gen 4 XR15’s (pros)
Book end the blue 30’s & space the pro 15’s in between to hit the outskirts and spread things out. Then throw that 30 pro smack dab in the middle. This should give me the ability to creat lots of different zones with different par readings and a wide variation of spectrum.
filtration:
sump and skimmer,
I have an unused Vertex Supra C with an Omega 200 skimmer. Won this as a door prize at a show at the Orange County Fairgrounds. It also came with a calcium reactor.
Note: I’m a little worried this sump may be a little too small for a 240 gallon tank but I guess we will see once we get to that road and I get final gallonage.

I’ll be using two eco tech vectors M2 pumps
power heads
2 ecotech MP60’s
4 ecotech MP 40’s
should be able to get some really cool combinations out of these 6 units and keep the tank moving and healthy.

inside the box:
-Plan is to cycle the tank with a very thin sand bed then remove the sand a little bit at a time and go with a bare bottom tank.
-live rock was thinking about going with a few pieces to get bioload going. Want to limit the potential hitchhikers so I’m will to be really patient with an extra long cycling.
-dry rock I live the minimalist stylings you can get with the Markorocas well as the ability to create negative space.
Anyways that’s the current plan I’m sure it will change a million times can’t wait to get some feedback. Looking forward to this.
