Howdy everyone. I’ve been running my 120 SPS dominant tank now for about 7-8 months. I’ve never had quick growth and phenomenal color like I’ve had in this tank. I’ve noticed a slow in growth along with Coraline Algae stopping completely and slowly turning brown (before I cleaned it off my glass).

Currently running the Triton Method with a Chaeto Reactor and Skimmer for filtration.

Dosing about 16ml a day of all 4 with stable parameters in regards to Alk/Mag/Calcium.

I didn’t realize my Chaeto Reactor Pump was unplugged for 1-1.5 months. I fed heavy-ish in regards to dosing Polyp Booster with Reef Roids twice a week.

Tested my Phosphates and they came in at a whopping 1.48ppm. Went down to 1.27 after my Reactor was back online, then to 1.59, now they’re at 1.2 flat. My nitrates were 2-5ppm and ever since the Reactor has been back on, has been sitting around 0-1.

Debating on adding Stump Remover to help balance out my Phosphates. I added a GFO Reactor with small amount on a very low tumble at the top, which brought my PO4 down to 1.2.

My SPS have slightly paled due to the nitrate reduction unfortunately.

Looking for advice on if I should dose Stump Remover to help balance out Phosphates and bring color and growth back to my SPS.

Tests done with: Hanna Checker and Red Sea to confirm, all with same results as other.

I have 6 fish which include two tangs, so a very low bio load.

Adding stump remover isn't going to do much unless you have zero nitrates. As long as there is a nitrogen source available (i.e 2ppm no3) then the cheato is going to pull po4 out of the water along with the nitrogen.

If you want to accelerate the decrease in po4 (be careful) you could continue to run some GFO, do some water changes, or even dose some lanthanum chloride

My Corals still looked great prior to putting my Chaeto Reactor back online. Same with growth. I would cut frags and those would encrust in 2 weeks. 4 weeks the full plug was encrusted.

But nothing looked this crappy until my Chaeto Reactor was back online reducing my nitrates.

I’ve been feeding very heavy to try and get them up, but it’s only contributing to Phosphates it seems.

I would test with a daily adding of around 2 ppm NO3 for a week and see whats´s happen. and not panic because of the 1.2 reading - just work in order to take it down slowly

Sincerely Lasse
