I have 2 sps coral that are in a lot of indirect flow and the tips are growing algae but it has PE can this be caused by to much flow.

Water

CAl 450
Alk in the AM 8.7 in the pm 8.3
MAG 1420
Sal 1026
Nitrate .25
PH in the AM 8.1 in the pm 8.2
PHos 0.0
temp 77
Total water 90 gallon with a 40 b 110 total

Can you post a picture of it. Having higher flow should actually help blow algae away.

This is a piece of red planet and a milli just the tips

Algae growing on the coral or it's tips mean it's dead
Algae would never grown on alive piece
Tips might be burn from light or alk swing

If you didn't move this pieces from one place to another and didn't change the light
It may be alk swing burning tips
I never experience dead tips from too much flow
Just my thought

Just good skimmer and refugium and I feed twice a day and 26 fish in 250 gal total water volume
No3 0.05-1. Po4 0.00-0.05
10% water change every week
I

But I heard gfo might strip the water too much and causing tips burn
If it's definitely dead I would cut that off

Cut the tips clean with bone cutters. Do it again if algae grows again. The coral should recover just fine

I will cut the tips tonight . My skimmer was no skimming right and I just fixed it could a Nitrate spike kill the tips ?
