This acro hasn't done well since I added it to my tank back in July. Just this past week the tips have really receded. I think it is a pest because some of my other acros have been receding at the base. Any thoughts?

I should not that my params all seem to be in check.
SAlinity 1.025
Ca: 420
ALK: 9.0
Nitrate: 2
Mg: 1350
Phos: 0
Ammonia: 0

How you measure your Phosphate and nitrate? How long you have this in your tank (I think not that long as the base has not encrusted yet)?
Looks like kind of slow tissue necrosis....

You have little to no encrustation for 7 months... Are your other sps growing? Species effected? All acropora?

Just saw ......7 months?????? In your picture I can see another SPS with no encrustation at base. Can you show us picture of the tank or other SPS?

I have a few dos whose bases seem to be slowly dying. My millipora has encrusted nicely and a few others have encrusted. I did run fallow for3 months and found that the SPS did not grow during this period at all.

Which kit you use for checking phosphate and nitrate? Why you ran fallow for 3 months?

I got a disease that wiped out all my fish so I let it run fallow for the 75 days and then added all of my SPS and let it run fallow for another 75 days

Can you please tell which kits for NO3 and PO4????

Salivary for mg, ca, alk and p04. Red Sea for nitrate

Lol. Auto correct is screwing me all over. Salifert.

I dont know about Salifert PO4 kit but if possible try to test your water for phosphate by Hanna. I heard there can be pest on your acro which can cause this so if possible try to do a dip in CoralRx.

Just finished a 5 minute dip in CoralRX and didn't see anything too strange come off. I will continue to keep a close eye on these guys though.

Got to run to Baseball game but let me tag the [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] in here to get the ball rolling.
Btw, Thanks a lot @Anirban for helping already out but there might be more to game here.
My little knowledge says maybe a bacterial decease.
I had this two years ago in my tank but instead of trying to figure out to get my tank back up I empty the tank and started all over.
About 50% of my corals survived while they were in the frag tanks.
As of today I still didn't know why this happened even during this and after this talking to many Acro nuts still no clue.
Your # look all of besides your Po4 but that shouldn't be the cause of this.
I know a Triton test will tell you much more as maybe you have some kind of metal in your water from a pump or magnet or who knows.
Stray voltage can be a cause too.
Bad bucket of salt.
Bad two part mix.
All this you need to figure out as it can be anything on the moment.

What kind of lights do you have? How often do you have to scrape the film algae off of your glass? How do you dose?

Isn't tips burnt of sps caused by alk swings? Recession at base of sps stn? I use a Hanna digital checker for phosphates and I am very pleased with it.
