What do u usually get when ur sps touch. Im used to seeing burned touch points one one or both touching branches or maybe one growing on the other if left. But for the first time saw a burn that took out a colony. Whats ur experience and do u let ur corals toych or prune regularly?

I prune mine, but ive never had a full colony death although im sure its quite common. Ive had a few acros kill off tons of flesh on other acropora before with filaments. Also had some just grow up a wall on eachther lol. Other then that, usually the typical die off while fighting

The corals can catch bacterial infections, might of what happened with you. Can also have to do with species, health and the nine yards

Realize that but its the first time i see a complete burn out.

sorry for the bad quality as I got the shots from wifes mobile phone camera.

I know for sure it's not a water quality issue as there's another minicolony of it close to it int he same tank and around 25 frags in the frag tanks as my hippo tang keeps knocking down frags from it every week or so. they're all doing well and growing. I've already moved a big frag and light acclimating it and will place in same position and for sure be very sure the matrix won't get close. I wanted to experiment with a couple of frags of both colonies touching but don't think it adds any value nor justifies killing a frag.
