spspirates 150 gallon build

What a groovy idea! No updates yet:( Kicking it in the Keys so not working on the build at the moment. On island time :) When I get back I'll be focusing on lighting the inside of the cabinet. Disco ball.....lol! Why not!

Sweet didnt realize this was the week for vaca! Hopefully you will hear sooner than later! :-D

Let me know what you find! I'm trying to add some before I get the doors and canopy done!

Can you guys tell me how is it? What do you do? What levels what numbers do you keep to help with growth of SPS n LPS coralS

Felix is about done on tank fabrication! I can get you the name of the carpenter that made my doors. Great work! I would recommend him to anyone!

My reef isn't up and running yet but parameters I will be striving for are: (Calcium 400ppm-450ppm) (dKH 8-10) (Magnesium 1350ppm-1450ppm) (Specific Gravity 1.026-1.027)
(Temp 78 degrees) Very clean water...nutrients in nutrients out. Fresh bulbs a skimmer over rated with a good air intake. Lots of good oxygen/water exchange is important to me. A good food source. Keep everything consistent. There are a lot more things that I do but not going to go into great depth but everything at one point or another will be touched on as the tank turns into a living reef. If you have any questions or need me to be more specific on a particular variable or topic feel free to PM me.

OK. so with a little creative/modern thinking Im going to go with Christmas lights!..........LOL I know I know.....But I think it'll will work and look kind a cool. $9.99 for a box of 70 lights. "Cool White"
I think it will serve its purpose and will give it a modern look. Im going with the cool white because it brings out surrounding colors.

Andy, another option worth looking into is Automotive LED 'Ground Effects' lighting $10-20 and just need an old 12v wall wart spliced on for power. I have a thread in the DIY Forum here ---> https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/do-yourself-diy/142348-budget-do-yourself-light-emitting-diodes-stunner-strips-moonlight.html
that shows one.

Cheers, Todd

Great idea Todd! That will be my plan B if plan A falls through.

Today I picked up this utility mat to safeguard from any spills that I hope will not happen..LOL! Of course sump will sent right on top of the mat.

Scratch this idea. I thought it may work but it seems as if the plastic that its made from is a poor grade. I put some pressure on it with weight on the edge and it cracked...lol So Im going to go with using nothing. Between using the ghost overflow maybe a check valve and the depth of my sump I should be pretty safe.

Thanks Chris! Thats what I thought. Not a big lost it was only $7.00.

Here is my old sump that I'll use in this build. I love it! Its a 40 breeder with a couple cool little chambers near the drain with a external return. I took the middle baffle out because it was too low for the water depth of the new ATB, I need at least 8" of water that was only giving me 7". So I'll be adding two baffles so I can have a refugium in which I haven't done it years! Off tomorrow so I'll be on the great acrylic hunt.

Also what makes this sump really cool is this splash box at the drain! It kicks butt!

It was a good idea Andy! Love the sump. I have a similar design with splash box, but mine drains into a triple filter sock chamber! Which helps keep pretty sumps clean!

Very cool man!
