what size of tank are you running it on? And do you run it at full power? Your also running the 3500 and I'm going with the 5500

Running at full power on a 60 cube. I had the sicce 660gph on there before and it had more flow but it was very noisy.

How is it that the sicce at 660gph ran at more flow than you reef octopus dc-3500? I thought the RO DC-3500 ran at 3500gph or am I missing something? I am contemplating getting either the Reef Octopus DC-5500 or the Reef Octopus water blaster 10000 (which I think runs a max 6700gph) for my 75gal setup (would have the return pump also run GAC reactor, to my chiller, and as a return), but am stumped as to which one to get. Anyone have any advice or input between the two?

The dc 3500 has a max flow rate of 925gph but like I said imo I think it's lower. The max flow rating on the 5500 is 1325gph.

Ahh thanks for clarifying the correct output of the DC 3500 and 5500. Well if you feel the 3500 actually outputs less than advertised, I'm sure it'd the same with the 5500. Since the water blaster pushes much more water compared to the 5500, even if that one pushes lower than advertised too, I'd still be ok. Now leaning toward the water blaster

Ok so to the looks of it corals are "perking" up a bit. Maybe it was the Marine Pure? Don't know for sure but took it out. Did a 25 gallon water change and have been feeding PEmysis and Cobalts coral food. One thing I do know for sure is that my water was too deprived of nutrients which I have never thought I would ever say. I also took out my felt filter socks and replaced them with nylon filter socks to keep some of the nutrients suspended but still remove debris.

Any way I took a shot of this one acropora that I have that I need to get a proper ID for. I got it from a friend of mine. Brilliant yellow tips and base highlights.

Tank looks great Andy! I had a similar situation, started carbon dosing to drop my nitrates and phosphates a little, shoot before I knew it I was reading 1 ppb phosphorus (0.003 ppm phosphates) and 0 nitrates. Big time STN and faded. Getting them back up a little has really been a slow process. Hopefully squared up by the time the new tank cycles. I ended up loosing a couple nice ones from Ben, going to have to hit him back up once I get rolling again. Anyhoo, keep up the good work! BTW, I have a 100mm macro and avast porthole if you ever want to borrow them, just hit me up.

Thanks Paul! I may hit you up for the 100mm. I have been taking most of my pics with the Avast Porthole. Yes corals are coming around great now that I have some nutrients in the system. Never thought I'd ever say my reef was too clean!..Lol Good luck on your new build can't wait to see what you drop into this reef tank once it's cycled.

So you're using nylon socks? Like the weave of media bags? I'm thinking to do the same for the same reason. But I have to use a bag because my drains make way too many bubbles. Too clean water is why I previously couldn't support acros and it's getting that way again. That's a gorgeous acro! Looks like some sort of Tenius.
