Miami Hurricane

Very nice! My Miami Hurricane has turned a much paler purple compared to what it looked like when I got it, as well as some of my SPS (become pale). Do you know what this is due to (too much, too little light? Parameter issue?)?

Thank you! I'm hoping I can pull out that baby blue look to it. We'll see. A pretty new addition to the reef. You could have a light issue or a nutrient issue or both. It could be too much light or too little or possibly too little nutrients.

I just increased my light intensity so hopefully that will give me some clues. If anything I have high nutrients. Do you think this could be the culprit? It's weird....I have quite high nitrates but undetectable phosphates despite not running GFO or any phos removal media, and I know it is measuring correct as my Hanna checker, Red sea kit, and salifert kit all give me extremely low phos levels. Maybe it is a low nutrient issue (of phos), despite nitrate being 35ppm. Thanks for the advice

Hmmmm....I know when my phosphates were undetectable my colors were very light. I stopped checking and chasing nutrient numbers. PM me and maybe we can find that variable that's causing your issue.

OK so here is a pic of two Strawberry Shortcake acro's. The one on the left is a wild colony. The one on the right is the Original Unique Corals Strawberry Shortcake. They both have a lot of coloring up to do. Out of most of my SPS these guys seem to be the slowest to bounce back. Something also to add is that they both will be growing into each other here soon. Im curious how they will grow together and if one will be any different than the next. Keep watching!
