Squires wrasse lost streamers

Hello back again with another mysterious random fish situation, so my squires wrasse has long streamers and now the streamers are completely gone , and it looks like the end of the tail is starting to have a grey slime residue (fungus?) idk what it is but please help me

Also the baby yellow tang was added literally 1 hour ago so it wasn’t the cause of the missing streamers

This fish is a victim of aggression and tail has been severely damaged
I’d recommend isolation in an acclimation box and and find out who the aggressor is
Often you can feed tank and place your phone on video mode for 30 mins and walk away- must walk away and come back and review video and see who the culprit may be

That does look like bacterial fin rot. That is always caused by some abrasion that then gets infected. Usually, it is from tank mate aggression, but not in this case. The next most common cause is a fish that is stressed/uncomfortable, and is constantly rubbing its tail against a hard surface.

Your best treatment option would be a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic - either Kanaplex or Neoplex are good choices.

I believe it’s from when I first got him like 2 weeks ago he jumped through the corner of the acclimation bucket , and hit the wall and landed on the carpet then I quickly put him back in, but the tail was fine until yesterday I really noticed this

Problem is he doesn’t seem to be eating , like he was before , now he took two very tiny pieces of food before he was a pig

Yes i am actually he loves it just today I guess his tail is really bothering him

Can be used with copper, but you should choose one or the other antibiotics to start with - kind of a coin flip, but I use Neoplex more often.

I dosed it in the wrasse holding tank instead (without copper) but it does have sand and live rock and a few other fish that I noticed the fins look a little weird so I just dosed the tank it’s a 15 gallon tank , I read it can be dosed in a tank with live sand and rock

Ah, no! It needs to be dosed as a bath in the water in a quarantine tank. Oral medications won’t work well for external bacterial infections, and the dose would need to be carefully calculated anyway.

Update the fish has healed the the neoplex dosed to the tank really did wonders , all of the cotton looking stuff on the tail has cleared up now let’s see if the streamers will grow back !! Thanks again everyone really appreciate your timely response and help thanks for saving this lil guy!
