I know Troylee and skinz are running this pump and have good things to say about it. I'm gonna play around with this skimmer for a few weeks before I decide on what is the best settings for my tank. currently, I have the water line on the sump at about 8" and I've read multiple times that I can get the best performance out of this skimmer with the water level at 5.75". I gotta find a way to raise it up but space is really limited under the tank and I'll probably only be able to raise it 1"-1.50" to be able to get the cup off for cleaning.

for those of you guys that have had this skimmer, what tips can you give me. what are the best things and not so good things about this pump? so far for me, it looks like a solid pump for my size tank and bioload (110g and pretty heavy bio load).

Thanks in advance.

Well the deeper it sits the more head pressure you get.. Which means higher wattage draw and heat.. Egg crate is simple enough for a stand... Even raising it a inch is gonna help with air draw and tuning it in easier... Hth any more questions let them fly..;)

Cool. Thanks man. Gotta find some crate then. LoL.

What did you end up doing with the drain from the cup?

thank you. I might have to go that route too. :)

is there such a thing as skimming too much? I think the SRO 2000 INT so far is performing great even at 8" of water. I'll get some time next week or two to raise it up since the recommendation by many is run it around 5.75" of water but for me most likely it'll be around 6.5" of water since my current stand doesn't allow me to raise the skimmer up more than a few inches. :(

anyway, here's what it pulled out in less than 24 hours (about 12 oz). is it too much? I like to the skimmate to be on the wet site somewhat. the skimmate I took out is more wet than I'd like it to be so hopefully after break in period, it'll pull out less water and more gunk. just in case you're wondering why there's no bubbles, I turned off the skimmer since I was doing a water change last night.
