Why is my skimmer overflowing. It happens for no reason through the day. I'm not dosing, feeding, adding water it just overflows. It happened around 5 to 6 times this week and it's driving me nuts. I've had this skimmer for 2 years at same water level. I took it out last week because it was doing it then and cleaned it all out but didn't help. Lowered the water level in the skimmer again no help. I'm about to throw it up against the wall LOL.

Do you run carbon? If not, try adding carbon. Maybe something in the water is causing it. I had the same issues with a different skimmer and tried everything you tried but adding the carbon is what took care of it. Otherwise email coralvue, their customer service is great.

First I would clean it, just ensuring the pump intake is clear of obstructions. If that's not the problem, it's unlikely that there is anything wrong with the skimmer provided your water levels are constant.

It may be something that is happening inside the tank. I had some sort of spawning event happen and it drove my skimmer crazy. Similar thing happened when I cleaned off my glass because I had too many cerith snail eggs on it. Cleaned off too many at once and again it went haywire.

I run a 3000 (6.5" depth) and I had a period where it did the same thing. I had just cleaned it and then things went haywire. No issues for 14 months then bam. My issue? The pump became canted with its rear a couple of inches up. I leveled it and everything went back to normal. Doubt thats your issue, but thought I would post.

Rob&gab, make sure you buy the ANC. That thing is my fav piece of reef equipt hands down.

I cleaned it again put some new carbon in and didn't help it's still over flowing. My water level is at a constant height. It's driving me crazy :(

You check to make sure the air line isn't clogged? Run a little RO/DI down the hose to break-up any salt creep that could be blocking it.
