My SWC 160 isn't cutting it anymore. Been wanting to upgrade for quite some time now. Been looking at the SRO 3000 and have heard great things. But would it be overkill for my 105 rimless? I have it fairly well stocked and I feed heavily.

I personally wouldn't recommend one. This was mine after a little over a year in operation. This is normal crazing according to CoralVue...

This just fell off one day while the unit was in normal operation in the sump (you can see the small amount of glue used left on the pump intake pipe.) No more air draw so it flooded the cup and pumped it back into the tank.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday, about 20 months after it was put into operation and the crazing got a bit worse and the pump stopped. I just cleaned it less than 2 weeks prior (I had to clean it every 2 weeks for it to function consistently) but checked it and it wasn't dirty. The impeller would just rattle when I turned it back on. After screwing around with it for a couple hours, this was the result.

Had the skimmer sitting in the box for about 2 years before the tank finally got set up so it was out of warranty. I expected more than 20 months of operation out of it though.
