Stable Alk, Now what?

OK, I got my ALK where I want it, 8.3. Tested last night at 9:00. My understanding is that now I wait 3 days and check again. So Thursday-Checked, Friday, Saturday, Sunday wait, Test again Monday. Then figure how much my ALK has been depleted and then divide by 3..... right?

I take that number and formulate how much my dose doeses each evening while the lights are off to help with pH..... Is that correct?

Yes that works, but important initially to keep testing frequently to really dial in those dose. A three day average is good baseline, but probably will have to adjust from that.

you can test after 1 day, then adjust your dosing to handle the uptake and then test again the next day to see if it is holding where you want it. Depending upon what is in your tank, waiting 3 days could be a really big swing which you don't want. When I am dialing in my manually calculated dosing amount on a tank without a Trident, I test every day or two until I am sure it is holding and then test less frequently.

I forgot to add that you dont really want to dose soon after lights go off. That is pretty much when ph is at the highest. If you are doing it manually then make it last thing u do before bed or flas soon as you wake up.
