Hi Reefers,

I will be embarking on a journy to take custom plumbing for my Cade 1500 and I would like to add a couple of flow sensors to the setup, mainly on the return pipe and my UV.

Now, I do not run an Apex system; i am quite heavily involved with Reef Factory so I am looking for a different solution

Q: Is there any stand alone flow meters; maybe with local reading/gauge available on the market? - Any recomendations?

Does'nt matter if metric or imperial fittings- i will make either work!

There are literally hundreds

I’ve been looking at flow sensors and electric valves the last few days for my new tank build. Since Neptune doesn’t make a 1.5” version I’ve had to branch out as well.

There are ones that plug into a controller, mechanical ones that have a gauge on top, digital, etc.

There is an ultra sonic/clamp on sensor sold for home water mains to track useage and detect leaks that may work as well.

Honestly I wish Flo by Moen wasn’t brass. It has a built in high pressure solenoid and flow meter in one.

Tagging this thread as I'm super interested as I'm just setting up my UV, and I've heard some reliability issues with Neptune's flow meters.

Royal Exclusive has some mechanical flow sensors. You also could source elsewhere. Keyence makes a clamp on ultrasonic flow sensor that looks interesting. There are a number of flow sensor manufactures the have a local display option.

I never knew about the Royal Exclusive flow sensors, I will definetly have a look at those! :) If they are anything like their return pumps and skimmers it'shard to be disapointed!
