Hello need some help with stand questions.
Got a nuvo 20 with stand some time back. While I look at the stand now I can see it starting to bow in a few places/lean. Looking at getting the petco imagitarium brooklyn metal stand 29g since the dimensions are
Length30 IN
Height29.5 IN
Width12.5 IN

And the nuvo20 tank dimensions are
Length 23.62” Width: 15” Height: 13”

Which are closer them any other stand without have to go get one custom built

I was thinking of putting a piece of hardwood board under and yoga foam. To make up the difference for width on the petco stand. I’m assuming this should be fine since most stands have the lip hanging off any ways. right? If I remember physics/science correctly as long as the board is straight and touching all four corners of the stand, the weight should be evenly distributed..and the foam helps with any imperfections of board and tank..correct?

if this is all correct and should work.. ya hat type for wood would be best? What thickness would be best also?

Am I understanding this correctly that your tank will be bigger than your stand in both length and width... with your tank overhanging all sides?

You'll still have around 200lbs in that 20g tank. I'd be nervous to have tank overhang with stress on glass...even with a 20g tank.

Here's a stand at BRS that fits the Nuvo 20 with better dimensions.

No the length of the stand is bigger it’s just the width of the tank is bigger

the first dimensions are the tank stand and the second are of the tank it self

it be more of the front and back have a little overhang. But when we look at regular stands most use particle board/mdf in their construction and have a lip

I looked at those but can’t justify $300 + on a stand/shipping

thanks for the reply though

If you split the overhang front/back it's only 1.25" and that would easily be held by just about any 3/4" wood product. Anything designed for subfloor, hardwood ply... even 1x pine boards fabbed together would do it. Depends more on aesthetics. The problem with many sheet goods is you'll be buying 4'x8', at $30-60. You might find something in 2'x2' or 2'x4' at the big boxes.

I would caution you about having the full 2.5" overhang on one side as it would become a lever and addtional fastening, possibly securing to the wall.
