so I have a 30L with your typical stand (I think I uploaded a picture). Anyways it has two doors with front and back vertical "braces". I removed the back one to get my sump in. I'd like to remove the sump to clean it. Do you think I could also remove the front or would it cause the stand to topple??

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

i see your pic but dont see what your asking
i think i get what your say but unsure what the measurement of the stand

I would not risk removing it. Just get in there and clean it the best you can and remember this issue if you ever setup another tank. I build my own stands without braces in the middle because they are always in the way.

Yeah I've been contemplating building a new, bigger and more accessible stand... however then I have to get the tank onto it haha.

If a stock stand and tank combo has a center brace I would not chance removing that while full.
It may be ok if you drained water into a barrel and pumped back in when done, but really if you are just wanting to clean sump just put a piece of hose at the end of a pump and siphon it clean, much safer and easier.

The stands use just the right amount of support. I would not feel safe removing it. Best make one with 2x4...

If your tank is filled there's not much you can do. But I have taken them out and put 2x4 around the sides and haven't had a problem but every stand is diffrent

If it's a lateral brace you could always box and all four corners front and rear and accomplish the same thing with a lot more wood. Ultimately it depends on the size of your frag tank if that would work for you. It may be easier to install a metal brace that is through bolted and easily removable.

I used to take mine out of my 180 gallon stand to pull the sump out. I highly doubt the weight of a 30 gallon is going to collapse the stand if you take the brace out for 15 minutes and put it back in.

Yea I'd be more worried about all the pounding and prying that would be done removing it
