Below is a picture of my stand. It is a 8’ 240 gallon acrylic tank on top. Started filling the other day and noticed the water level was off and found it was off almost 1” in the 8’. I have corrected the problem with these two shims that are 1*6 and 24” long. Will this work for Good, long term?

Advice please before I start filling again.

Agreed. Spread the weight across many shims. Think one small shim would be holding all the weight of that spot and putting excess stress on that part of the stand. More shims the better across the whole area needing corrected for level.

That’s along the lines I was thinking. Just didn’t want to over think it.

Is the entire stand constructed of MDF (thats all I can see in the picture) or is there a structural interior frame.
Depending on whether it is frame or box construction will also change how you need to shim.
But either way, the more contact area that you get with shim->stand and shim->floor the better.

Good point about stand construction design. Another picture or two would be needed to really see how the load is carried. 240 gallons weighs a lot!

Here are some more pics that I can give at the moment.

The top and sides are 3/4” plywood, it’s the back wall that is mdf. There is a mdf support wall in the middle as well. I have also beefed that up with 2*4 material. If you look closely you can see a slit right down the center. This is because I had to cut the stand in half to get it in my basement. I have resupported this with new lumber.

In the second pic, the one from behind, you can see a support pipe for the house. The other corner has one as well...I literally can’t get this tank out anymore.

Third pic shows it from the living room side currently.

If you can find some metal plates they would handle more of the weight then those wooden shims your using.
