Hi all,
I’m installing a WB 6026 peninsula in my basement and I have a question on what to put the stand on:

option 1 - the basement floor is a finished cement. My plan here was install the tank on the cement and tile to it. The problem here is that the adjustments for the leveling feet are not accessible from Inside the stand and would be covered if I tiled to it.

Option 2 - tile the whole floor under the stand and have the stand on tile. Originally I wasn’t looking at this due because of the possibility of the tile cracking.

So how concerned would you be with option 2? It’s easier, looks better and gives me access to adjust the leveling feet which could be important on a rimless tank.

The cement floor is level and hard as a rock so the tile will have a really solid base.

Appreciate any feedback/questions!

Tile the whole floor and place the stand on top of the tile. If the installation is done correctly (meaning that the correct sized trowel is used to make a solid and consistent bed of Thin-Set, the tile is pressed down into the bed to ensure even coverage with no air pockets, and then and leveled with surrounding tiles) then the tile will be able to distribute the weight easily. If you ever decide to remove/replace the tank, you will still have a consistent floor instead a big space of missing tile.

Thank you, I’ve heard that from a few places so I’m leaning that way, we will be doing the tile. The stand has about 10-15 feet on it so the pressure in any one area isn’t that great and in the past 5 years I haven’t seen any cracks in the cement so I’m “feeling” ok

Agree on using the floor tile! Side note, have you gotten any clarity on the delivery date of this tank from waterbox?

Think about long term... at some point, you're going to want to move that tank. You don't want a big hole in your tile job :)

Without a doubt tile the whole floor. Just try to make sure you place it so that there is no feet on a joint if possible. Buy and save a few extra tiles in case some crack. Then you can replace them without fear of them being discontinued in the future.

Thanks guys, your confirming stuff I’ve been thinking.

I have a bunch of extra tiles. They are the wood plank style

Zach, I spoke with them. My tank, in white is the last one they are selling. It’s shipping out this week. They are moving the the 6025 to align panel sizes across their other lines.

+1 on tile.

Are they the 6" by like 18 or 24" wood plank? Just make sure the tiles where the tank will contact are really well adhered and no issues. Avoid getting to close to grout lines, just to avoid chipping.

Yeah 6/18”
