Stand question

I am finally done with the stand i rebuilt for the 60G cube I am building. However there is a slight gap between the left back corner and the top.

I tried sanding it and that didn't seem to fix the issue, but I didn't use a belt sander, I used a regular sander with 60grit.

What are my options for the tank?

SHim?
Keep sanding ?
Styrofoam?
Foam?

The tank has a bottom rim so I doubt styrofoam could be used.

I have read many people use a yoga mat under the tank for these type of issues.

I would use wood glue to fill it. I use marine grade silicone and seal almost all internal seams with it to one, prevent light from refugium from showing thru, and second to help seal against water getting in between boards.

How is wood glue going to fill the gap between the top of the stand and the rim of the tank?

I put the shim under the tank so you would get a better picture of what I am dealing with. I think I am going to purchase some yoga foam to fill in the gap.

Since the glass bottom of the tank is actually resting on the black trim you should put shims all the way around where there's a gap. that'll give the trim something to rest on. once you cut the excess off take a black marker and color the shims.

Forgot to add to get them in as tight as you can because the weight of the tank and everything inside it will compress the shims a little.

I guess I did not read you question right. In the past, we have used molding on stands with finish nails. You can get a few different sizes. Others use a 1x2 to trim all the way around the the tank. In your case, a 1x2 around the tank and a piece of the half circle molding would finish that gap off. Is the gap all the way around the tanks and even, or is it just on one side?
