I would like to get a new sump into my stand. Which piece, if any, should I remove to get this thing in?
I am thinking about removing this middle piece, the one that seems to simply be an anchor point for the doors.
LMK!

I believe the corner posts support the most weight, so that middle piece should be okay to remove temporarily.

#reefsquad, any other thoughts?

The center one, you still have enough support on either side.

I would change the return pump out as well to something controllable and more reliable. As long as your down there you might as well do it all in line shot

I had a similar tank and stand. I removed the middle part several times with no issues.
It was taken off so many times that if you zoom in on the bottom you will see I had to screw it in in an angle just to keep it in place.

These remind me of why on my new build the sump will be in the garage.:) No under the tank sumps again. Never enough room and always things in the way.

Also wouldn't hurt to drain out as much water as possible to lesson the weight. Then the same water could be pumped right back in .

Look at eurobracing too. Just a thought.

since the spacing looks similar distance, something to consider, if you remove one of the pieces where the door closes onto and not the middle, it may give you more room to get a new sump in if it is longer than the old one.

The middle piece is just a front piece. The other ones look like supports.

middle piece is just there for cosmetic looks when doors close there is no gap between the doors. 75 cosmetic 25% support.
The side 2 pieces are the true support along with the sides/corners.

while I agree those pieces have more support built into them, the the distance between each one is the same, you're going to apply the same amount of force regardless of which piece you take out. What you need to check for is if you are going to have the room to get a bigger sump in if you choose the middle. Don't forget you can also cut a temporary 2x4 and use it as bracing if you're worried.

Ditto all comments from fellow members on the center. I made several removable centers for the same reason.

I noticed on the right side of your stand it appears to be unobstructed. Another idea is considering a cutout like the one on I did on my current stand.

Unfortunately, it is blocked by a stairway in one side, and the wall on the other. It wasn't a great place to put the tank, but once we move, I will make sure everything is perfect and no problems like this will arise for the new tank.
