Hey guys- I've had my 30 gallon tall (24x12x24) reef tank on an Ikea Expedit shelving unit. I realize this is bad news and want to make a change to a new stand ASAP. Im assuming the tanks weighs around 200lbs with all the live rock and everything. The thing is I'm probably moving in a year or so and will start a much larger tank in my new house, so I don't want to drop a ton of money on a stand. No Sump with the tank, just HOB skimmer etc, so no need for anything special with respect to a stand. Here are my questions:

Does anyone have an easy DIY blueprint for a stand for a 30 gallon tall?
Does anyone know of a premade stand that would be good and looks decent from say a Home Depot or furniture store?
Does anyone have suggestions on how to physically move the tank from one stand to the next???

Here's a picture of the setup, From a half a year ago when I first set up the tank.

Totion- I'm definitely leaning towards building one. Yours looks real nice. Do you have a blueprint or did you just measure and go with it?

With that lip on the top, any concern with cleaning the salt water that splashes over and gets in between the tank and the wood??

Are you planning on a sump below? I don't have one, just curious. Are you going to add a door to the front or leave or open??

I'm assuming you stained that??

Stained with black cherry rustlers and sealed with outdoor spar varnish. Water beads up on it. I have crude drawings I made with measurements I'll put up. And my sump fits perfectly in it (15 gallon long). Let me find the pics and I'll post them...

I'm going to make doors for it after the sump is running. They will only cover the bottom opening not the shelf. My brother had the idea for the open shelf and I liked it.

Made a quick drawing to show how I did the frame. The second notched 2x4s were added and not originally planned for until it was pointed out to me the stand was not sound from lateral force. I used a dremel multimax to notch them. The white circles are screws, the black circles are holes I drilled halfway through the 2x4 to use 2.5 in screws to connect the outer uprights to the top and bottom frame. I simply made a guide out of a block of wood to stick on the drill bit to only allow me to drill halfway through.

I did- just got the skeleton and the skin cut, but it's been raining and I've been slammed with work and buying a house. I documented with pictures throughout but will upload them all once it's completely done. Here's one though.
