Hello all!
I'm working on a nano reef for my office and I'm trying to decide what color to stain the stand. The office furniture at my work is all white cubes with tan cube walls. That's where I sit. The executive offices are all done in a blond oak, it looks like oak wood with just a tiny hint of color.
It seems clear that I should go light given this information, but at the same time this tank may come home with me one day, and my home office is all colored espresso, a very deep, almost black stain. My home aquarium matches that.
So now I'm on the fence. Should I stain it very light and risk it not matching my home? Or stain it very dark and have it not match my cube? To be fair, I've always found that antique oak dark look to be very classy.
The stand is made of oak, and here's where it is currently. When I'm done it will have a hood over the top, and a drawer underneath:

Here's a bad drawing of what I plan:

What would you do?
