When can I add my own blue linckia starfish in my tank?

I have no experience with star fish. But I have also heard 8-12month. I know that they can never be exposed to air, that's about it.

Bump for more experienced replies, I myself am interested in one of these.

Easily a year or more, and only in larger tanks with significant rock work. You also have to start with a healthy specimen, most Linckia are already nutritional challenged by the time you get them.

Blue links are a difficult sea stare to keep . Like stated up there they do not readily except food and will on feed off of a natural build up in the aquarium . This along with there weak shipping characteristics are what make them considered a advanced hobbyist piece . It is recommended that they only go in large aquariums that have been established for 1-2 years

What about them hitting air is that true?

Can't get air trapped in their underside as they usually can't expel it.

It's possible they feed on Asterina starfish according to some accounts.

I waited a little over a year to add my linckia starfish. I added a blue one and an orange one to my 150g tank.

And how are they now? How long has your tank been running for now ?

I think the exposure to air is a myth because in the shallows they always get exposed with the tide coming in and out. You need to check them for a parasite that burrows into their skin. Sandsifters are a good option but not a nice looking
