Hello reefers, anybody know if starboard could be used as a canopy? I have a Red Sea Max E-170 and would like to make an open top canopy to block out some glare. I don't like the idea of using wood and having it rot or moisture getting under the paint over time. Thoughts?

Sure, why not? Depending on the thickness you may have to build a frame for it. If it's just to cover around the lights you could use plastic angle iron to do that which would keep it rather light weight.

Better yet, if it's just for a light shade, make the frame out of plastic angle iron and clad it in pvc foam signage board. Light weight and cheap.

Bought the starboard for about 100 total, think it was worth it! Still might make a shade even with the canopy to reduce a little light leaking but still helps a lot.
